Nokia has confirmed the technology behind its Symbian-powered 41MP PureView 808 handset will soon make the leap to its Lumia range.

The declaration was made by Nokia US president Chris Webb, who stated the Finnish firm was "working with Microsoft to make sure their platform supports the broad set of things we want to do with the PureView imaging."

Future tech

"You can expect we'll be bringing PureView technologies to the Windows Phone platform and Lumia devices," he added.

"We're absolutely committed to doing that."

The PureView 808 boasts a 41 megapixel sensor and Carl Zeiss optics, as well as 'pixel oversampling technology' which captures 7 pixels worth of information before condensing it into 'one perfect pixel.'

Exactly when we'll see the first PureView-equipped handset is another grey area, with Webb declining to offer any specifics on a launch date.

Nokia previously suggested it could seek to employ PureView tech in Windows Phone devices back in March, with senior VP Jo Harlow claiming its debut "will not take very take long".
