Speaking to Tracy Erickson yesterday about Gameloft's iPhone future, CEO Michel Guillemot expressed his company's careful attention to gamer feedback, and how useful the App Store has been in facilitating that direct dialogue.

"The experience accumulated over the last 11 months since the launch of the App Store has been helpful," Guillemot says. "App Store consumers are sophisticated."

He goes on to say that, in Gameloft's experience, iPhone gamers are more sensitive to quality, and willing to sift through user reviews to determine how their money will be spent.

This careful attention to the market by the end-user is apparently what caused the rather controversial move by Gameloft to reduce the cost of its movie tie-in, Terminator Salvation, which dropped to half-price only two weeks after release.

"Consumer expectations were that the price should be lowered and we responded," he explains.

It's certainly reassuring to hear one of the largest mobile game developers placing so much emphasis on user feedback, so make sure you submit your reviews to the App Store, and leave your comments here on Pocket Gamer and in our forums - the developers are waiting to hear from you.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
