Gakuen Bungo Stray Dogs, a new adaptation of the titular anime series, reveals itself with a small teaser

Development company NextNinja, who has previously worked on Touhou LostWord and Grand Summoners, have announced their next project: a mobile rendition of the popular Bungo Stray Dogs anime series. The game is currently going under the name Gakuen Bungo Stray Dogs, and the details on this one are quite light - but let’s go over what we know.

First up, what exactly is Bungo Stray Dogs? Well, the series began as a manga, and later got an anime adaptation. The plot is rather complicated, but begins with an orphaned protagonist who catches a quirky and eclectic detective attempting to end his own life. Upon stopping him, the detective gets our protagonist caught up in a plot involving the mafia, supernatural abilities, and a truly wild ride as the series goes on.

As for the game, in all frankness, all we really have in terms of knowledge about Gakuen Bungo Stray Dogs is the image featured here and an official Twitter account. So, since we don’t have a lot of information about the game, why not engage in some light speculation?

Given the nature of most anime adaptations that come to mobile, it’s safe to say that this one will likely be a gacha game of some form. Given how large the cast for Bungo Stray Dogs gets as the series goes on, it’s safe to say there will be a form of collection so players are motivated to get all of their favourite characters in their party.

As for combat and general gameplay, it’s tough to say exactly what it may be ending up as. What is odd is that tentative name, as Gakuen translates to either “garden” or “university” when you look at it in English. Perhaps this is some sort of side story involving the character’s school life?

It’s all a guessing game for now, but if you want to keep up-to-date with news regarding Gakuen Bungo Stray Dogs, check out that Twitter account linked above and stay tuned for more updates!
