If you thought building and running a farm was testing in Farming Simulator, try doing it in the frozen wastes of the North Pole.
Luckily, Alawar Entertainment hasn't gone for realism with Farm Frenzy 3: Ice Domain. Instead, it's all about comic fun and juggling the joys of managing a business.
Frozen funSet across 90 icy levels, the game tasks you with starting up a farm and meeting the requirements of each level. These usually revolve around producing a certain number of cookies, souvenirs, clothes, etc.
Your perpetually wintery enterprise starts off with farming penguins. Here you'll tap the screen to feed them fish and watch as they lay eggs that you can use to create goods. Things then move onto farming woolly mammoths, walruses, and a whole host of different animals.
You'll also need to build and upgrade your facilities. You can improve your fishing hole, speed up your shipments to and from the city, increase productivity in factories, and make your animals more efficient too. Doing all of this increases the likelihood of nabbing yourself a gold or silver trophy in each level.
Snow jokeIt all moves along nicely, but it's not without problems.
Dealing with animal invaders who are hell-bent on destroying your farm is a chore - not because it's an unwelcome feature, but because tapping on them to cage them usually results in you dispatching your stock of fish accidentally onto the playing field.
In what is essentially a management game it's a pain to waste resources in this way - especially as it seems as if it's just down to poor QA testing.
That aside, Farm Frenzy 3: Ice Domain is a solid and enjoyable management title that almost anyone can enjoy. It's great to see so many levels on offer for such a low price – and there's not even a whiff of an in-app purchase anywhere.
